The unique element was that the player's corpses persist after restart -- reminding the player of traps, and, on occassion, building up to a ramp the player could use to simply walk over dangerous parts.

Follow the exploits of the Viking warrior Kenneth as he battles his way through the Asgardian afterlife.
Viking afterlife is all about combat, and when you die in combat, you just get up again and start over -- until the field of battle is littered with hundreds of your own body, not to mention multiples of each of your enemies (assuming you win once in a while).
Eternity is a long time, though, especially when you don't get the good seats at the eternal banquet halls of Valhalla, but must live out day after grim day in the halls of the mopey Norse goddess Hel (only one "L" please), and Kenneth is about done.
Hel will allow him to leave, but he's got to fight his way out. This is not surprising, as everything is decided by fighting. Asgard cake-bake-offs are battles royale where thousands die each night.
It'll take more than one try, but let's hope Kenneth learns from his mistakes -- or at least steps over his fallen corpses without twisting an ankle. Hel, herself is watching to make sure he doesn't get out too easily. If he does? He's got a condo in West Palm Beach waiting for him, with a bucket of margaritas and a tree full of limes. He's thinking of taking up swing dancing.
